About 48A

Written from
inside the room.

48A does not come from an agency, a recruiter, or a hospitality consultant. It comes from someone who has worked inside a private household at the highest level — managed the kitchen, managed the house, and learned everything the hard way.

The gap in private household education is not lack of culinary skill. It is the absence of operational intelligence — how households actually function, what principals actually expect, and what it costs to do this work properly.

48A is the brief that should have existed before your first position. It exists now.

The advance notice standard that defines this industry
"There is no induction day in private service. You are handed keys to a property worth more than most people earn in a lifetime and expected to perform at the highest level from day one.

That gap is not acceptable. 48A exists to close it."

What readers say

"I wish this had existed when I took my first private position. I spent six months figuring out what this manual covers in seven chapters."

Private Chef · Cape TownManual No.1

"The agency markup chapter alone is worth the price. I had no idea what the client was actually paying. I do now."

Freelance Private Chef · LondonManual No.1

"Finally something written by someone who understands sole charge. The principal relationship chapter is exactly what nobody talks about openly."

Sole Charge Chef · DubaiManual No.4
Questions

Before you ask.

Common questions about the manuals, who they are for, and how they work.

Who are these manuals written for?+

Private kitchen professionals at all stages — chefs transitioning from commercial kitchens, experienced freelance chefs, and permanent household chefs managing sole-charge positions. The manuals assume professional kitchen competency and focus entirely on the private household context that culinary training never covers.

What format do I receive?+

A PDF delivered immediately upon purchase. No account required, no platform to log into. You download it once and keep it. Works on any device.

Is this relevant outside of a specific country?+

Yes. The manuals address the professional dynamics, operational structures, and career realities of private household service — consistent across international markets. The intelligence is transferable.

Will there be more manuals in the series?+

Yes. Series 01 covers five manuals total. No.2, No.3, and No.5 are in production. Join the list to be notified at launch.

Who writes 48A?+

Anna Rens is a pen name used by a working private household professional with over a decade of sole-charge experience at UHNW level. The editorial perspective is entirely from inside the household — not from a recruiter, consultant, or agency.
